Here is an overview from the publisher:
“[Weber’s Way to Grill: The Step-by-Step Guide to Expert Grilling] not only explains in clear, confidence-building recipes, it also shows readers with hundreds of color photographs exactly how to get the best results every time.
Each chapter takes readers through successful techniques for grilling every item imaginable. The triple-tested recipes are wonderful by themselves, but even more valuable as delicious examples of how to put new skills to use. Next to the recipes, readers will find variations on all sorts of grilling methods, seasonings, and sauces. This book features hundreds of step-by-step photographs detailing every important moment in the process of grilling, along with captions about exactly how and why the techniques work as well as they do. It doesn’t get more comprehensive than this.”
I don’t normally put a lot of stock in promotional copy written by those who stand to benefit from the sale of an item. However, it is really hard to ignore the hundreds of full 5-star customer reviews extolling the virtues of this book. From small details, such as the best kind of salt to use while grilling (and why), to big-picture concepts related to grilling with charcoal and gas, these customers share the key take-away lessons they picked up along the way.
Recipes are one important area where this book really excels. From classics such as pulled pork and outstanding burgers to regional favorites like Thai Shrimp with Watermelon Salsa or Baja Fish Wraps with Chipotle-Lime Sauce, Weber’s Way to Grill over delivers with well-over a hundred quality recipes for beef, pork, poultry, seafood, fruits, and vegetables. Rounding out the collection are 75 recipes for rubs, marinades and sauces. Recipes and cooking techniques are accompanied by quality photographs to illustrate.
One reviewer notes the following:
“The author explains how to set up a zone grilling system for direct and indirect grilling, and when to use each one. He explains the differences between various charcoals and woods. He details how to determine grill temperature and tell when food is done. The vegetable and fruit grilling guide was especially useful, as was the grilled pizza technique.”
It should be noted that very few of the reviews noted legitimate complaints about the quality or scope of information presented in the book. One concern involved bad binding that fell apart for one customer (I did not experience this with my own copy, and I have owned this book for nearly 5 years). Another mentioned vague recommendations regarding cooking times in some cases. My thought is that you generally want to cook meat to temperature vs. by time, so I wouldn’t let that discourage you from checking out this handy grilling resource.
In summary, if you want to take your outdoor cooking skills to new level, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Weber’s Way to Grill. I think you’ll agree it’s a valuable addition to your cookbook collection.
